Born at 2:40 p.m. on June 27, 2005 by C-section, weighing 5 1/2 pounds, five weeks early due to Vasa Previa.
We had an incredible journey bringing our little guy Kai into the world. Here are a few pics that we've taken along the way.
Michelle had a very serious condition called Vasa Previa. Vasa Previa occurs in approximately 1 out of 5,000 births and the condition requires that the baby be delivered early as going to full term is far too dangerous. If diagnosed, the baby can be scheduled to be delivered by C-section early. Awareness and diagnosis varies from region to region, so there is currently an International movement to promote awareness of this condition.  I liked sleeping on my belly to start....it's okay because they watch me carefully in the Special Care Nursery.

 Day Three......I'm starting to feel a lot better....except for that nurse that keeps poking my foot to take blood for my tests.... quit touching my feet! |

 Finally....after 8 weeks of hospitalization for Michelle and an additional 2 1/2 weeks for Kai, we're on our way home! Karma is enjoying the copilot seat immensely! |
